How to start a chat with another blogger

I feel stupid not being able to figure this out, but... when I click the chat icon, I see chats other folks have initiated with me, but I don't see anything that lets me initiate a new chat with someone who has not previously contacted me. Other folks are doing it! Why can't I???

  Okay! Just figured it out! You have to be on the person's blog page before you see the "send a chat message" icon. (I'm a bit slow sometimes!)

  If you have already communicated with someone (or they with you), you can usually find it in;
  https://bdsmlr.com/messages 
  
  But to initiate a message to someone, yes, you must be on their blog (and their blog must have the messaging icon - some folks turn it off).
  
  Interesting side note, although in regular messaging, you can put a URL, if you do it in the initial communication (the one through the blog), then it will automatically reject the message (and without any notice that it's done so).
