Well I may be totally naive but what I imagine is bdsmlr having a blog on their site - let's say they call it TalkingToYouRegularly.bdsmlr.com, and you can add that to the list of blogs you follow - and then getting one of their bunch to post on it once in a while with stuff like "Oh by the way, you won't be able to upload any material for umpteen days because we don't know how to fix things BUT we're hoping my girlfriend Debbie's dad who knows a lot about stuff will give us some advice once he's out of rehab which will be soon Debbie thinks".

In most sensibly run outfits, you have someone doing the PR, don't you? They pass material to him/her, and then she/he writes up a little piece based on the info.

In any sensibly run outfit, anyway...

They fixed new videos since then I guess... but it seems to be one step forward two steps back with this place. I still have no idea why they cannot communicate with us properly. It's beyond frustrating.

They also said the "bdsmlr blog" (through which to actually talk to members) would be "implemented soon". I mean - what's there to implement? A couple of mouse clicks and entering a nick and a mail address? It's not rocket science! I guess we shouldn't expect anyone to run a site responsibly who can't even set up a blog on it ...

I fear that instead of doing the sensible thing and using bdsmlr.bdsmlr.com (which is "reserved", whatever that means), they'll try to put it on (spins wheel of social media platforms) LiveJournal or something.

The optimist in me hopes the delay is because they're implementing a shared-blog/group feature, so multiple users (staff, in this case) can post to the same blog without sharing credentials. But that's a nice-to-have, not a must-have, and I'm not sure the way the user identities are managed/switched can even support that.

They tweeted 2 months ago that they were working on things, then silence. They tweeted and said zendesk and twitter won't work as a way to communicate with users.

Because sending a tweet every few days or every week to immediately reach 10K followers (their Twitter follower count) is... bad? Using a platform to communicate that isn't effected by the BDSMLR technical issues is... bad?

I'll have to laugh if they choose BDSMLR as their blog platform. "My car is on fire, we need a getaway car! Hey, let's use this car that's on fire!"

It's not as if it takes 2 months to choose a platform to communicate with users. (hint: use Twitter. it's free. and it's already scaled WAY beyond communicating with 10K followers)

Most of these "issues" have never been remedied since February... and the last peep from BDSMLR was 2 months ago on Twitter... which is where they directed us for status updates.

Things aren't going well for BDSMLR.

When it gets to be more fun kvetching on the user forum and reading everybody else's kvetching than it is to use the site itself, it's probably time to give up on the site, lol.
