Blog Cover Image Not Displaying.

I've been frustrated about this for months now. I do see the occasional blog that displays a cover image but very rarely. Even saw one while bouncing around today, but of course I don't remember who. Ours was quite a lovely gif and took some work to create in a workable format.

Will be curious to hear what they tell you in response to your ticket, if they ever tell you anything...

I'm on the 2rd email back now having 1st provided additional info and confirmed cookies & cache cleared etc.. and the last one confirming I'd tried reuploading a new image in case the missing one was on an old image server or similar. Still didn't work though both my old image and the new one are showing in the thumbnail on my edit profile screen.

They seem to take about a week between responses but fingers crossed they can find a solution. 🤞

Ah yes, I had forgotten — ours shows just fine when I open "Edit Blog." Which is part of why I've figured all along it must be a site problem and not a browser or image issue. Can't understand why this doesn't seem to bother people more. I searched these boards a few weeks ago and didn't find anyone raising the issue.

Possibly because its an aesthetic issue which doesn't rank as high on peoples priorities as functionality issues like chat, log in and actual posts not showing.
I just decided there were plenty of people already chasing solutions for the other issues and this has been nagging at me for a while now lol. (I just think it looks a bit drab without one)

I found a context in which cover images do display. If you're in your timeline and you click on the name of the originator of a post in the top corner, their blog pops up in a side window and virtually everyone's cover images that I checked in this way this morning was showing ... except ours...

    Pretty clunky site!

Certainly a long way from being fixed.. I can't get site to load in Chrome or Edge browsers at all so I'm stuck using my mobile lol. (Not tried Firefox yet as would mean having a 3rd browser on my comp 🤪)

Wow, that's a lot worse than covers not displaying!

I use Opera on one computer and Vivaldi on another. Mostly reserve those for sex stuff to avoid crossover (kids at home, blah blah). They're also the best privacy browsers afaik. Never had any significant trouble loading the site with either one. Maybe Google and Microsoft are cracking down on sexuality too? We live in an strangely contradictory era of ubiquitous sexuality combined with resurgent puritanism.

I doubt thats it.. I can get on Fetlife no problem lol
Weirdly it gives me a white screen. If I add the /login to the address that page appears.. enter details.. loads a white screen again?

I've read others having issues on web browsers too and edge is built on chromium I believe so the two browsers have that in common which makes me think its the site itself?

Might have to bite the bullet and go Firefox.. I've read good things about the latest version too.

This problem also bothered but even if it is just minor I still wanted my profile to show to everybody the way I wanted. Sometimes it seems to work, I can see my cover image in very specific moments but most of the time I cannot see it :(

I discovered my cover image showing in my edit blog bit on Firefox albeit the height was cropped so as not to be worth it.. then turned off full width and it was mostly there.. BUT.. save and go back to 'Show my blog'.. and its still not displaying.
I've even tried looking at the html/css code and can't find the image at all on in that? (Images from post I've pinned are there.. as are some ads.. but no cover image) I'm no web developer so I might have missed it but its like the cover image code is missing entirely?

    Any updates on this, tounge-tastic?

    The problem certainly isn't solved.

I recently submitted a ticket for a different issue -- why is it impossible to put an image or gif in either a "submission" or a "question" when those are clearly supposed to be options. After a week I got a response: clear your cache and disable ad blockers. Tried it, of course it still doesn't work...

The cover is the referenced in the background-img CSS property of pub-blog-header. It doesn't appear in the in-line code in a spot that makes a lot of sense unless you're familiar with the site's CSS.

It shows up on the edit, but 404s on the blog view. The url (for the banner on my test blog) is

    /uploads/blogs/2021/05/10249857/10249857-T4yANX7cqU1.jpg

Without leading domain. Problem is, in the editor the root is bdsmlr.com and in the blog view the root is jenniestestblog3.bdsmlr.com. That causes the background image of the header to 404.

    So bdsmlr.com/uploads/blogs/2021/05/10249857/10249857-T4yANX7cqU1.jpg works, but jenniestestblog3.bdsmlr.com/uploads/blogs/2021/05/10249857/10249857-T4yANX7cqU1.jpg doesn't.

I'd have to go back and look, but this seems related to the period of time when the editor wasn't working at all after the Great Crash. I vaguely remember bdsmlr.com/customize/blog working but blog.bdsmlr.com/customize used to work but stopped. There's a thread where it was discussed.

You can do a workaround until this get fixed using CSS: Post the image as a regular image post, add the CSS class for pub-blog-header, and add background-image: <url of the image you just posted>.

I can post more specific details/example code later if anyone is interested.

And if you still have an open ticket, add this information into it. Either the uploader needs to updated to place the image in the correct place, or the html template used needs to be updated to use an absolute reference to bdsmlr.com without subdomain.

Still got an open ticket.. currently being asked to try upload a different image as it may be 'image dimensions' thats the problem. I don't believe this for a second as the last image I loaded was a new upload of the original one that worked fine. - I'll reply with the info you've supplied and see what they come back with. Thanks for looking in to it further as you (at least) sound like you know what you're talking about. 😉

TT, I don't suppose you ever got an answer to this or a fix. Ours still doesn't show anyway.

Jennie, if you get a chance I'd love to get your instructions for the workaround. I don't like the look of our blog nearly as much without the cover.

I've had several requests to try different things but none of them have worked as of yet.. I even forwarded the info Jennie was able to give me from what she could see from looking at the code but alas to date.. no fix has been implemented. Last email I had was to try a different size image which I felt was a bit of a joke. I've come to the conclusion that they have bigger fish (problems) to fry so I'm content to do without at present. I'd rather they concentrated their limited resources on keeping uploads working etc etc.
