Clearing the cache absolutely worked for me on the Dashboard, and on my personal blog.

First off, it doesn't work. Secondly, even if it did work -- which it doesn't -- do you seriously think that people are going to reboot their machine every time they want to visit the site?

Can't keep doing this every time I want to log in. Oh and it doesn't fix queue, reaction tab, DMs, and on and on.
    Did you guys give up?

I may not have been clear, or you may have misunderstood.

I didn't, and no one is suggesting a reboot of the machine every time. I said clear the cache, close the browser and restart THAT, not the machine.

Still working for me as described above.

Once the cache has been cleared, logging out, logging back in, all works as it did before this mess.

Maybe, different browser, different platforms act differently, but Windows PC/FireFox for me work fine now as before.

FckMe2Dad, I tried that. It "worked" for a little bit, and then stopped. They haven't even come remotely close to fixing the site.

I should have clarified in my original post that I have no problem viewing the feed and my personal blog/archive, but I had not attempted to post anything when I made this comment.

Now I have and yes I can post pictures, I just did a jpg again as a test, no problem at all. I don't post vids normally. I also posted a gif of about  2047kb and it seemed to hang, I left it for a while, then canceled it, but it had actually already posted both to the feed, and to my blog. I then tried a smaller gif of 497kb and it acted the same: seemed to hang, and again when I clicked on cancel, and the subsequent are you sure, etc. I found that it too had already posted.

So there is still something for sure, but as for viewing the feed, and my own blog and archive, all  is as it was before the recent mess.  Personally I can do without posting for some time, but I naturally did not want to loose access to my own past posts, and as long as they are safe, I can wait for the admins to finish working out the snags.

    Hope this helps others.

I did what you suggested, and the site "worked" for about 5 minutes. Doesn't work now, and no, I'm not going to reboot so I can look at five or six pictures until it freezes again. Either they fix it or they don't, but don't try to tell people that it's fixed. It isn't even close to working.

Sorry it's not working for you.

As I posted originally: Working FOR ME. I'm not telling anyone that it's "fixed" and in any case, my opinion on any matter is just that. I'm not connected to BDSMLR administration in any way whatsoever.

I just know that this is a FREE site, which I've enjoyed using, and if whomever started it, and runs it, is having mechanical or software problems which currently interfere with the smooth operation, it's still a free site. As long as what I've invested in time by creating and posting is still there when they finally get it straightened out, I will be happy, and I can be patient. Again, it's a free site. None of us are being short-changed on subscription fees or the like.

And further, speaking broadly, not about you particularly, I'm fairly certain that the admins are freaked out and upset enough about the mess without a bunch of users  bitching about the problems every hour on the hour, making threats to leave and insults to the operation. Granted if we were paying customers, we'd have a right to demand some explanation, and compensation, but we are not paying customers. Let's just be patient, take a break, and hope that they can work it all out soon.

curious how you came to this conclusion, as there's been diddly-squat from admin in five days. all you've stated at the start of this thread is just the same old regurgiatation that upset users have already tried, with or without limited success. that's why you're being downvoted.

the fact that this is a free site does not negate the fact that users are upset and wanting answers. do you not understand that we are a COMMODITY to bdsmlr, and the reason they've got shiny new advertisers? and now that they've got new revenue streams it seems like we've been left to fend for ourselves. prove me wrong.

FckMe2Dad, you make good points, especially the point about BDSMLR being free. I've made the same point in another comment to the effect that "beggars can't be choosers." The expectation that all of this is somehow free by right is bullshit. If I ran it, I would do two things:

    1. Get the site working. Today, it looks like it's back to the status quo ante, which means mostly good but still no shorage of irritating glitches. Free or paid, irritation is irritation.

    2. Once #1 was done, I'd give it six months and then start charging. I think $15 or $20 a year. I have a pretty strong belief -- with some exceptions -- that if something is "free," the consumers tend to assign a value of $0 to a product or service.

But there is a somewhat contrary point to make.

I'm no mind reader, so I can't even guess what the site owners are thinking about the bitching. If I ran it, the complaints would be a mixed bag. On the one hand, I'd be miffed about people complaining about something they don't pay for. On the other hand, I would regard the complaints as evidence that, contrary to my point #2 above, users care a lot about what I was doing. It might even be inspirational in a backhanded sort of way.

If I ran BDSMLR, the scariest scenario would be if my site went down and no one said anything. I think the admin(s) would do well to come here and communicate, but it's easy to imagine that they are overwhelmed.

Well, since I posted that all was working for me, I felt I should come post that all is no longer working for me.

Broken image placeholders in posts on my feed with no file when searched directly for them. Also, from about Oct 10 up to the present, in my own archive, filled with broken images. But earlier posts are still there in the archive.

And the images seem to be at the cdn012.bdsmlr.com....whether that's localized, or helpful for anyone to know.

@John Blank the site isn't really free though because it's ad supported and also the users are the ones providing the content not the site owners. If people like us weren't uploading stuff to attract site traffic they wouldn't make any ad revenue, they need us as much as we need a platform. Just because bloggers aren't paying to use the site or the site isn't paying bloggers for their content with actual cash doesn't mean it's not transactional.

Well, today it's all working for me once again!

Like the rest of the user base, I sure hope the admins can get this huge disruption settled into a working site once again.
