I've not had any luck with the site for the past few days. The twitter account says to clear cookies and cache, but that doesnt resolve the issues.

I don't think its coming back. I would be really happy to be proven wrong but I think BDSMLR isn't going to make it. The server has been erratic for a while so when they announced maintenance I was pretty excited. Was I completely wrong! The queue still doesn't work and they made a post a while back about how the queue put a large load on the server. Put two and two together. I think at least one of the machines crashed beyond recovery and they have to replace it. Its got to be difficult to operate with advertisements that don't load have the time and bitcoin donations.

A big thanks to the BDSMLR guys for their efforts. It was a good lifeboat.

I have really liked the site. I am not a techie, so am completely unable to comment on what happened, and very much hope they can fix it. In the meantime, I've been checking into "newTumbl," but it also has its issues.

Let's be perfectly honest about this. BDSMLR is a free site, as is newTumbl and Tumblr before it. The old stock phrase applies here: Beggars can't be choosers. I think the best way to go would be to charge a subscription fee. The site is good enough that I'd be willing to pay. But if they do that, then they'll need to get the site working better than it has worked.

If I ran BDSMLR, I'd get it working and keep it free for 6 months so people could see that it works, and then charge a fee. No one should ever work for free, and I'm sure there's a whole lot of boring scut work involved. If that site's owners want to keep it going and make it worth their time and effort, they really need to sit down and do some real thinking.

I don't want to abandon the site. On the contrary, I wish them well. But they MUST fix it, and fix it right. The site's performance was spotty even before the crash. Lots of work to do, and that work ought to be compensated. The idea that internet sites are free just doesn't work.

A single update from any mod would stop all this speculation. I have previously been very impressed with the transparency of the people behind the site, but I see no reason why we can't get an update to say what's happening. For me, everything is almost back to normal - but the community as a whole is being damaged by the lack of response.

I would even take a "still working on it" at this point.

^I've basically messaged them to say that... just let us know they're still there and working on things. I know they'd get a lot more support if they had some way of accepting payment that doesn't involve cryptocurrency. Unfortunately it's not easy due to pretty much all transaction handlers like paypal, credit card companies etc. won't handle payments for this sorta business. There are other options though. Also if things are that dire they only have to reach out and ask the community to help and I am sure there are people here who will step up.

Agreed, for a whole week, the website has never been checked in details before the migration, and lots and lots of issues are being persistant (and also increasing in severity). Not a SINGLE communication about those issues is there, except from the 2nd of February. That's unprofessional not to see any transparent information about the status of the website. It just feels the website is being abandoned, which I really hope it's not true.

Right now, we cannot post images anymore. The size of pictures is quite low, compared to some other "kinky"-blr. I have invisible messages in my inbox that I cannot clear. Such small details tend to make me want to leave bdsmlr and move, once again, to newtumblr, where none of these issues aren't there, and with much transparency behind the scenes.

For a kinky community with thousands of active members, that's quite shameful to see such status, even when it's free & ad-renumerated. I'll be rough, but get your shit together, and COMMUNICATE. Do you need help? ASK. There are plenty of people that might help you. I can help too, I'd be happy to help at any time. BUT ASK.

Are there any alternatives, especially in regards to the community?
