More GIF Flexibility
CompletedPlease increase the GIF size cap to 10mb, I know others will want it to be much higher but with a 10mb cap that would be easier to work with.

An FYI comment on this topic: some gifs I’ve tried to bring over from tumblr have been 8-10mb, some even higher. I don’t know tumblr’s official spec, maybe the uploader there used some trickery.
If I *really* want the large gif and have time, I resize it. Usually I skip it -esp if a set- and toss. I understand connection and storage concerns, just sayin😊
On a somewhat related note- beginning about 2 weeks ago tumblr began a major purge of nsfw content & blogs that had thrived in the seemingly underground nsfw community that had continued there after the porn ban. No longer, apparently. Lots of content recently deleted, many, many nsfw blogs have recently been terminated.
Some bloggers are relocating. I read a note where some gif makers are recommending going to another -The Other- nsfw-friendly blogging platform (I won’t name it) because it allows up to 10mb gifs.
Again, I understand storage and connection concerns here. I’m not a true gif maker and am ok with things the way they are. From input I’ve gotten- Many US users are on WiFi for much of their blogging activity, many others have unlimited data plans for mobile..tho mobile (any plan) tends to be viable only in cities or if you happen to be close to a cell tower. In any case, data usage is not a concern for many/most in the US. I realize bdsmlr serves users around the globe and data costs may be an issue.

billyguitar77 thank you for the info. That was valuable information.
We looked more into this and indeed it seems that unofficially Tumblr seems to accept 10 mb gifs. We of course want to make it possible to bring content with you if migrating, so that in mind we will be raising the limit to 10 mb during the weekend.
Regarding the data use, we're going to make them webp for mobile etc use to save data. That way we can satisfy both parties.

One thing I just caught trying out the new feature is that the site, when uploading, reports "decimal megabytes".
The file in question was 10,363,957 bytes, which windows reports as 9.88MB (binary megabytes/mebibytes). Bdsmlr accepted it, but it flashed 10.4MB right as the upload began.
