Swipe for search doesn't work in app

The release notes for the app say swipe from left to right in the home screen for search. But I have swiped lots, and nothing happens. Android on Nexus 5.

  Please make sure you swipe from the very left corner of the screen. We have had few reporting the same but they were not doing that.
