Image display issues again?
Some images are simply not showing, and instead you get this icon
and when you click on it it show this error message
if you say the word "cookies" i swear to god... >_<
i just recently deleted all of cookies and had to relogin everywhere. Cookies are not the issue
Is it just me or is it happening to everyone? i use chrome
-
I'd like to try it, see if I get the same message.
Can you get me the image's URL?
(Hopefully by the time you respond, it'll still be doing this enough to diagnose.)
btw, based on the diagnostics that others have done, I'm beginning to doubt that the problem is actually cookies. And I know it's not cloudflare, since they don't use nginx.I've submitted a ticket with what I've found on a cursory search of nginx diagnostics.

Funny thing is if i copy-paste the image's IRL here, you can actually see it fine but it doesn't allow to post it. And i forgot to mention these images i had were in queue, but now that i posted it it shows fine. Buuut yesterday i posted an image on my secondary blog and it didn't show at all
But i also noticed some images from before are not showing on actual blogs like this one here which is a reblog from other blog https://betafate.bdsmlr.com/post/549372226
or this one that is mine and posted by me:

Hey, thanks it actually helped to load my post (but only most recent one) old posts are still not showing at all, and if you click on that icon it says "the image could not be loaded" so i assume bdsmlr just lost them somehow. It is the same for stuff i posted before and reblogs from others' blogs.

500 errors pop up frequently when i switch between my primary and secondary blogs. But i work around it by going directly to certain blog and it works again... Aaaand just as i said it, it stopped working, now just getting 500 without any way to get to my front page with messages and stuff
-
Yeah if I could even get there. At the moment, I'm thwarted by the 500 server error before I can actually log in. But even if that's successful, like you say trying to go to a sub blog has the error page displayed. Whole thing is a mess at the moment. You think anyone's actually trying to fix it?
-
Have you submitted a support ticket? gary98 as the errors you are getting sounds to be either account related or browser related, although I think you said in another topic you tried a different browser.
I have heard from many people that staff are very pleasant and helpful, unfortunately they ghosted me when I contacted them.

IceyPixels - Not browser related, not account related. Different browsers and accounts, same story. Sometimes, it works; then, stops working. Tried five different browser, two different computers, cleared out cache and cookies. Nada. Once the servers decide they need a break, that's it. Their "service"? Yeah, some say they do respond. I tried them several times on different issues, gave up finally since they never replied. It's like talking to a brick wall. Plus someone else here said they'd reported the 500 error page problem and were told it was working for "most people". I honestly don't need that sort of info :-)

and now 404's on ocdn .... (Change address to cdn. to fix these)

Wow, it's been a day of error code bingo, and I'm pretty sure I just hit the jackpot!
- 400: Hold on a sec, someone's been a bit naughty with their request! Our servers blushed and couldn't quite handle the size of that one.
- 404: Well, this is awkward... even Bdsmlr can have its 'private moments' too!
- 500: Whoops! Our server got a little too excited and needs a timeout to clean up its mess. Technical difficulties can be quite... stimulating.
- 520: Uh-oh, it seems our passion for delivering content got a little too intense and caused a momentary lovers' quarrel between our servers. They'll be making up shortly!

IceyPixels - No VPN, and it can't have anything to do with that since at times it's all working sort of, others nada. I guess it's to do with their servers, maybe they haven't got the money to upgrade them or whatever. Though there are small issues which have nothing to do with servers but with coding, and they haven't been addressed for ages.
-
The reasoning behind the VPN was since you mentioned the problem occurring on two accounts, while others are not facing it. This led me to consider the possibility of a problematic blog post you might be following on both accounts. However, you mentioned the issue arises at the login screen, which made me doubt this theory.
So, if seems the problem is account related, but seeming you're experiencing this problem on two different accounts, I figured it's worth considering whether something in your home network, like your router, is partially blocking adult content and causing the issue or the possibility of bdsmlr partially blocking your IP.
Note : At the current time I am not seeing any error message and bdsmlr appear to be working fine for me

IceyPixels yeah makes sense - but again, since it occurs on various accounts and browsers but not all the time, it's in all likelihood server related. I mean, this stuff's been going on for absolute ages. Today so far things have been okay, at least signing in and going to sublogs, that's been working okay. My router/ISP sure isn't involved in any of this, else stuff would be either always blocked or always permitted, but since it's an on and off thing, it's not my end at fault. Well knowing bdsmlr's history of trying to provide things on a prayer and a shoestring, it's not surprising stuffs goes wrong at times. Let's credit them for having made the site provide the basics on a more or less reliable basis. A massive improvement over those nightmare months when nothing seemed to be working reliably ever!

I just tested and enabled infinitive scroll on the dashboard and now see the 500s everyone else is getting!
Disabling infinitive scroll immediately stops the errors for me
John Blank what's your blog name that you are getting the 500s on follows?
Also does the follows page display a 500 if you visit this link https://bdsmlr.com/following/asc

mhmmm the trouble is that there is now multiple issues that could be causing the same issue, making it even harder to track down and eliminate. If problems are fixed as they occur it would make life a lot easier for them.
Unless they hire new staff I don't think this site is ever going to be 100%, so we will have to keep coming up with user fixes until the next best site comes along. Which will happen at some point.
