'sub blogs are coming in the near future.' has been the answer for far too long, Simply put everything is working OK and sub blogs are far more important than fixing other issues!
@ebearweb
They will be coming like promised, we'd love to bring them out today, but we're not there yet. They will be the next big update after the drafts.
@Support-Bdsmlr
RAISES HAND: When sub blog functionality is ready for testing in the future, I volunteer to jump in.
I have career experience with both 'functionality testing' and 'user acceptance testing'. These experiences allow me to communicate and work effectively with both system administrators and system developers.
23rd March 2019:
'We're currently pushing very hard for the Android App (the reason we have not been publishing new features that much at the moment). We're aiming to get the App out with basic features in not too distant future. After that's done we will put our efforts towards site's features again. There's lots of new features coming up once we get into it 100% again! '
So not 'next big update after the drafts'
How long before the promised sub blogs? I have been preparing for it, twisting the emphasis of my current 'blog' to accommodate sub blogs. A week, a month, give us some idea!
Just wanted to say that I appreciate the efforts going into creating the phone app.... and other functional issues... I would rather you do a decent job of software engineering for functional areas rather than rush it in order to satisfy the demands of the users...
I came here to find out if it was possible to make a sub-blog... and I'm completely content for you to do it in "however long" it takes. I've been very impressed with the speed and stability of bdsmlr (and considering it's free to use) I am extremely grateful that you and your team are doing such an amazing job of putting it all together in order to create a home for this amazing community... !
Fantastic work ! and I think you guys should put together a patreon page.... and advertise it on the login page.... as I think a lot of other people like me would like to show their appreciation for your efforts !
Yes I do appreciate all the effort put into BDSMlr, but I too 'need' sub blogs and have been waiting for them to be enabled as promised.
The only two improvements I have noticed that I use are the improvement in the database and the ability to queue reblogged posts. Everything else has been irrelevant to me.
I do not need an android app, as BDSMlr performs very well on my tablets!
I have at least four different browsers I could easily use to open up new accounts, instead of opening sub blogs. So tell me should I do that? Or should I wait for sub blogs, which have be promoissed from the start for the 'near future'!
How far away is the 'near future' likely to be? Two weeks?
@everyone
We get it you guys want to see them ASAP. So do we, however it is not something we rush into production but we first make sure it works properly. If we release it buggy, it would possibly cause catastrophic problems for the platform and that's of course something we will not do.
Release date is: When it's ready. We're not giving it a timeline nor making empty promises we then possibly cannot keep.
Please have some patience with it. We're working pretty much 24/7 and really pushing forward on every aspect of the site. As a fun fact, none of us has taken any free time since early December. Yes, we have worked every day (including weekends), minimum 12 hours (often at least 18) per day to get things forward and we will continue doing so until we get everything to acceptable level.
App has been easily the most asked feature of them all. We're still getting daily support requests about it even though we have announced we will bring one out. Sub blogs are another one on top of our list and we're developing both at the moment.
You have already made an 'empty promise'.
For you said 'They will be the next big update after the drafts.' The drafts are apparently here (I don't use them). And last week you 'advised' that 'We're aiming to get the App out with basic features in not too distant future. After that's done we will put our efforts towards site's features again.'
So they are not the next 'big' thing after the drafts! A broken promise! Just reading your announcements is apparently a great waste of time.
@ebearweb
Aren't you a sunshine ;).
But cheer up! Sub-blogs are actually published just a moment ago. No, we didn't make an empty promise. Like said, we were developing both at the same time. We promised to bring them out and here they are.
So why make this comment 'Release date is: When it's ready. We're not giving it a timeline nor making empty promises we then possibly cannot keep.'; just a few hours ago!
But thank you!
@ebearweb
Because that's the way development is :). At times it's extremely difficult to give estimations, even if they are almost finished there can be something which is very difficult to estimate when it is done. That's why you constantly see promised release dates being sometimes pushed even years forward in various projects.
Therefore we didn't give one as we had one single nagging issue to solve (which we did yesterday).
And you're welcome!
